Zeppelin is a mod you can use to fly ships around in the Minecraft world. It is not restricted to the world grid, but can move freely in space.

Note: This mod is BETA – There’s a good chance it’ll crash, but is stable enough for people to use now. If you get an accident dump, please post what you were doing, and also the crash sign in this thread.
Place this block on your ‘ship’. The direction you place the block will determine the forward direction for the craft. Right click the block. The craft is going to be determined. If it is too large, you will get an error. Default max dimensions are 1024 blocks.
Blocks that won’t be accepted as part of a spead boat by default (you are able to change this – see configuration section):
A few more random things like flowers and mushrooms
Other blocks are allowed, but they might not all work! Containers like chests can have on the craft, but aren’t usable. Their contents will be dropped when the craft is created.
Controls for the ship take presctiption the number pad automatically.
- 8 Increase speed
- 2 Decrease speed
- 4 Rotate left
- 6 Rotate right
- 5 Stop
- + Ascend
- – Descend
- * Stop and align to grid
You can configure the controls in your options.txt, see below.
You are able to control the ship so long as you are standing on it (or near it in some instances).
If you jump off as the ship is in motion, wave goodbye.
Right clicking the controller block may cause the ship to prevent, realign around the world grid, and rejoin the world.
Should you EXIT The sport By having an ACTIVE CRAFT, IT WILL NOT BE SAVED. (Fixed in 0.5)
This is a fully ModLoader compatible mod, no changes towards the base classes are required!

Single Player Commands – works sometimes?
The configuration file can be found in your minecraft folder under /config/mod_Zeppelin.cfg. If it doesn’t exist it will be created at runtime. These configuration settings are implemented, with their defaults:
block.controller.id = 195
This is actually the controller block ID
zeppelin.max_craft_size = 1024
This is the maximum size the controller will attempt to detect. LARGE VALUES WILL FREEZE – You’ve been WARNED
zeppelin.disallowed_blocks = 1,2,3,8,9,10,11,12,13,30,31,32,37,38,39,40,51,52,59,78,79,90
A comma separated listing of blocks the controller will skip when looking for a craft. See wiki for ID listing. Air and Bedrock are always skipped.
zeppelin.default_lighting = -1
Enables you to override dynamic lighting from the craft and employ a fixed value. This can improve performance for many people with large craft. Values from 0 to at least one are accepted, others infer dynamic lighting.

- Rotation of blocks! The following blocks rotate correctly:
- Stairs (wrong while flying, correct when reentering the planet)
- Signs (on walls) (still get erased)
- Redstone repeaters
- Ladders on a ship crash the sport.
- Exiting the game while a craft exists causes the craft to be lost.
- Torches emit no light, neither does glowstone.
- Slight movement of the player during rotation. – This rotation can cause the player to clip into blocks, and then fall. Beware the perimeters!
- Players can sometimes fail to collide horizontally with blocks when the ship is rotating
- Bounding boxes are grid aligned even during rotation.
- Random item duplication bug with some blocks (torches, minecart rails, ladders)
- Not all blocks render on active craft, however they shouldn’t be collidable so you dont get held in walls of torches or anything
- Half-blocks are not collidable
- Odd behaviour when loading saved craft, you might want to right-click the control block many times.
- Furnaces, pistons, dispensers all do NOT rotate properly yet :/
Water is crazy. Avoid it. Submarines aren’t possible yet.
Controller block direction determines initial ship direction
Ships require fuel?
Crashing the ship at high speed may cause blocks to break
Ships created in water (or lava?) may have vertical motion disabled
Configuration file (custom blocklists etc)

Larger ships are slower to accellerate and turn (configurable?)

Be in a position to place new blocks while ship is within motion (and break blocks)
Q: What is the block ID for the controller?
A: Block ID 195 automatically in version 0.5 and better (165 for 0.1 through 0.4).
Q: How do i alter the controls?
A: Either make use of the in game control editor, or edit the choices.txt in your .minecraft folder (Start->Run->%appdata%/.minecraft/). The numbers for that keys are scancodes, which you’ll find here. Minecraft’s config.txt requires DECIMAL scancodes. NOT hex.
Here’s a different control scheme based on arrow keys, pgup/pgdn, home/end.
Q: I’m able to only progress and down! Help!
A: Make certain your NUMLOCK is on! If you do not understand what that is, google it!
Q: I recieve a black screen and no crash dump, so what can I do?
A: If you achieve the black screen without any error, create the following batch file file (or place it inside your start->run)

You should now get a command prompt with all the java messages, and minecraft should start. If this crashes, this window should have your stacktrace.
